SOCI 1010 Intro to Sociology (3 Credit Hours)
This introduction to sociology course introduces students to the three main sociological perspectives the sociological imagination, social construction, and how to think like a sociologist. Topics such as deviance, social control, culture, stratification, socialization, social movements, and other social issues that society faces are explored and discussed. This course will require students to think critically about human actions and interactions. Students will gain an understanding on how people’s lives are shaped by society.
Equivalent to SOC 150. Additional fees may exist.

SOCI 1020 Sociology of Food (3 Credit Hours)
This course explores the social dynamics of food procurement, distribution, and consumption through a sociological lens. It examines how food influences and is influenced by social organization, health, culture, politics, and the economy. Focusing on the connection between food and health, the course integrates multidisciplinary approaches to understand the social impacts of what we produce and eat, emphasizing its role in human life and civilization.
Academic Level: Undergraduate
Enrollment is limited to students with a program in Health Sciences or Cont Ed Post Bacc Pre-Health.
