IHS 150  Health Promotion Studies Seminar  (1 Credit Hours)  
This course is designed to introduce students to the professional fields of social work, public health, nutrition, and occupational studies. Topics to be discussed include fields of study and concentration, career opportunities, professional organizations and certifications, as well as graduate school opportunities. Students will engage in interprofessional discussions and learn about the many ways the health professions work together. Current events and trends within the professional fields will be discussed as well as opportunities to explore professional pathways that align with student goals.
Academic Level: Undergraduate  

Enrollment is limited to students with a program in Hlth Wellns Occupatnal Studies, Nutrition, Occupational Studies, Occupational Studies 3+2, Public Health or Social Work.

IHS 210  Methods of Scholarly Inquiry  (3 Credit Hours)  
This interprofessional course provides support for the development of foundational knowledge, skills, and attitudes addressing research and evidence-based practice in the health professions. Components which comprise evidence-based care and the tools essential for acquiring, structuring, appraising, and presenting evidence are emphasized. The role and contribution of interprofessional evidence-based approaches in advancing healthcare quality and safety is a focus of this course.

IHS 310  Ethics for Interprofessional Practice  (3 Credit Hours)  
This course explores fundamental knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to engage with ethicality in interprofessional health care practice. The contribution of individual and societal morals and values, and how this informs the concept of caring, is analyzed. Ethical principles, frameworks, and theories are explored, with emphasis dedicated to a six-step process for ethical analysis and action. The role of the individual and interprofessional team in living and practicing ethically is highlighted.

IHS 427  Transcult Immerse Healthcare  
This course will expand on cultural knowledge that is currently integrated into UNE coursework through a health immersion experience to Ghana, West Africa. Content will include a focus on health issues related to persons who live in developing countries, specifically the communities of Sekondi and Takoradi, Ghana. Students will have the ability to participate in activities appropriate to their discipline that includes: 1) Participation in the delivery of direct patient care; 2) Community health education with the assistance of community health workers; 3) Becoming versed in the use of interpreters. Students are required to travel to Africa. Travel expenses are required. Prerequisites: Completed two successful years of study in a baccalaureate or graduate program in the college of health professions at UNE.
Equivalent to IHH 427.  Additional fees may exist.
